This is a closed vehicle with a roof hatch to enhance game viewing in national parks.   Most ‘experts’ believe this is the most exclusive way to take a safari by road on a moderate budget. Many mid-range and some up-market operators use these types of safari vehicles to transport clients from place to place. Normally, these safari vehicles are available on a private, one-party basis. For visitors wishing to be alone with family and friends, it is worth double-checking that this is the case to avoid disappointment.

Hiring Daily Rate: USD 230-350 depending on season (low/peak)

Shuttle safari cars are vehicles that transfer guests from one point to another, such as from the airport to your hotel, but are not used for safari activity. Shuttles may also be used for short excursions in the city’s vicinity.

They vary in size depending on the number of people and their luggage. For example, two guests might require a small 5-seater saloon car, while five guests might require a bigger 7-seater safari car. More than ten people might require a minivan, bus, and so on. Your tour leader will have organized the appropriate airport pick-up based on your group numbers.

Hiring Daily Rate: USD 50-150

We have a fleet of custom safari vehicles (converted Toyota Land Cruisers) designed and built with photographers’ needs in mind. It accommodates 3 photographers + 1 additional guest in the front seat beside the driver. The seat next to the driver is not specialized/has no additional functionality so if there are 4 photographers we ask our agent partners to manage their expectations at the booking stage that they must take turns.

Special Features:

  • Drop-down sides for photographers to lie down and get low-angle photographs.
  • Three 360º swivel seats, one per “row” – seats also lean right back if required.
  • Only the front and back bars hold up the roofless obstruction of view for photography.
  • Beanbags and foam camera rest (photographers are advised to bring their tripods).
  • All the usual vehicle kits – fridge, charging points (UK 3-pin plugs), and roll-down sides for bad weather, etc.

Hiring Daily Rate: USD 500-700 depending on the season (low/peak)
